Best Shopify E-Signature & Waiver Apps Compared (2026)

By MerchantKits · October 9, 2026 · 5 min read

If you need customers to sign waivers, rental agreements or contracts when they buy from your Shopify store, a few apps on the Shopify App Store do the job. We compared the three most relevant — SignShield, esigned and SignPanda — on price, limits, and the biggest practical difference: when the customer signs.

Disclosure: SignShield is made by MerchantKits, the publisher of this blog. We've tried to be fair: prices and ratings below are taken from each app's Shopify App Store listing on October 9, 2026, and we point out where the other apps are the better fit. Always check the current listing before you decide.

What 50 signatures a month really costs

Entry prices look similar, but included signatures differ a lot. Here's what each app costs for a store that collects about 50 signatures a month, using the cheapest option for that volume from each listing:

  • SignShield: $9.99 — 50 signing requests are included.
  • esigned: $29 on the Growth plan (50 included). On Starter it would be $9 + 40 × $0.90 = $45.
  • SignPanda: $62.50 on the Pro plan ($50 + 10 × $1.25). On Lite it would be $15 + 40 × $1.50 = $75.

For stores up to 50 signatures a month, SignShield is the least expensive. Above that, esigned's larger plans (up to 1,000 signatures) are designed for high volume.

SignShield

SignShield sends each customer a signing link by email as soon as an order containing a linked product arrives (or when it's paid, or manually). Checkout stays exactly as it is, which is why it works on every Shopify plan without Shopify Plus.

  • Strengths: lowest price for up to 50 signatures; fully automatic per order; ready-made templates (liability waiver, rental agreement, service agreement, custom order approval, NDA, terms) or upload your own PDF; signed PDFs with a Certificate of Completion, embedded digital signature, independent RFC 3161 timestamp and a public verification page; Shopify order updated when signed.
  • Limitations: customers sign after ordering, not before; a single plan capped at 50 requests per month (contact for more); new on the App Store, so no reviews yet.
  • Best for: rentals, bookings, services and custom orders where you can confirm the order once the document is signed.

esigned

esigned lets customers sign on the product page, at checkout, or through a follow-up email, with documents stored alongside the order and an audit trail.

  • Strengths: several signing points, including before the item is added to cart; plans scale to 1,000 signatures a month; branding and email sending on higher plans.
  • Limitations: the $9 Starter plan includes only 10 signatures; usage charges apply above each plan's allowance.
  • Best for: stores that need a signature before purchase, or that sign hundreds of documents a month.

SignPanda

SignPanda (listed as "Waivers E-Signatures-SignPanda") embeds signing into the product page and cart, so customers sign before buying.

  • Strengths: the most reviews of the three; signing before purchase; a 14-day trial; onboarding call on the Pro plan.
  • Limitations: highest cost per signature at low volume; 10 signed documents on the entry plan.
  • Best for: stores that want a proven app with signing on the product page and don't mind paying more per signature.

What to look for in a Shopify e-signature app

Beyond price, these are the questions worth asking before you install any signing app:

  1. When does the customer sign? Before purchase protects you completely but adds a step to buying; after purchase keeps conversion high but needs a clear policy for unsigned orders.
  2. Can it target specific products? Most stores only need signatures for some products. Signing every order wastes your allowance and annoys customers.
  3. Can you use your own document? Look for both ready-made templates and the option to upload the PDF you already use.
  4. What evidence is stored? At minimum: who signed, when, from which IP address, and a copy of exactly what they signed. Stronger apps add a document fingerprint (hash), an independent timestamp and a way for third parties to verify the document.
  5. Where do signed documents live? They should be easy to find from the order, and the customer should get their own copy.
  6. What happens at the limit? Check whether extra signatures are billed automatically or paused, so there are no surprises on your Shopify bill.
  7. Is it mobile-friendly? Most customers will open the signing link on their phone.

How to choose

  • Must the customer sign before paying? Choose an app that signs on the product page or cart — esigned or SignPanda.
  • Happy for the customer to sign right after ordering? SignShield keeps checkout friction-free and is the cheapest for up to 50 signatures a month.
  • Hundreds of signatures a month? Compare esigned's Scale and Pro plans, or ask SignShield about volume pricing.
  • Need strong evidence? Check what each app stores: SignShield includes an audit trail, embedded digital signature, independent timestamp and public verification page.

All three offer a free trial, so the safest choice is to try your top pick with a real product and a test order. New to the topic? Start with how to add a liability waiver to Shopify or how to get customers to sign a contract when they order.
